San Diego Family Services offers numerous groups to meet everyone’s
needs.
Women’s Groups
"Women Connect" Women's Support Group
Through group sharing and interaction, this group will address a variety
of common women’s issues including relationships, self-esteem, body
image, stress and anxiety, and parenting. This safe and supportive
environment is a great place to connect with other women facing similar
issues.
“Girls Connect” Teenage Girls Support
Group
This group is for teenage girls and focuses on their unique social and emotional
changes while providing support and offering techniques to deal with
the pressures of middle school and high school. Topics include: self-esteem,
peer pressure, body image, assertiveness, and relationships.
“Walk & Talk” Weight Management
Group
This group provides a fun way to get fit together! Exercise and discuss
issues that contribute to weight, body image, and frustration due to yo-yo
dieting. Level 1 offers a more gentle pace and Level 2
is for those accustomed to power walking. You will she unwanted pounds
and old issues while making new friends.
“Motherhood and Me” Support
Group
Come unite with other new mothers and unveil the mysteries of motherhood together in this 6 week group. Join with other mothers in discussing the challenges of the first year and gain confidence and support in nurturing the mother you want to be! Topics include: Establishing balance, reconnecting with your partner, isolation and more.
“Girls in Motion” Support
Group
Girls in Motion is an 8-week after-school program targeted for girls in grades 3-12. This fun-filled program jogs both the mind and body while introducing and helping girls discover new ways to prepare for a future of wellness in both their thoughts and motions. Through this experience, girls are able to find support, knowledge, and wellness while being physically active.
Military-Focused Groups
"Military Wives Connect" Support Group
Military wives have numerous issues and concerns that are specific to their
military connection. Through group sharing and interaction, this group will
address a variety of these common issues including relationships, adjustment
to deployment, solo parenting, self-esteem, body image, stress and anxiety.
This safe and supportive environment is a great place to connect with other
women facing similar issues.
“Military Teens Connect” Support Group
This group is designed specifically for teenagers in military families and
focuses on their unique social and emotional changes while providing support
and offering techniques to deal with the pressures of middle school and
high school. Topics include: adjusting to a relocation and new schools,
self-esteem, peer pressure, body image, assertiveness, and relationships.
Couples & Parents Groups
"Enriching Relationships" Love, Romance & Intimacy
Creating strong intimate relationships can be one of our deepest desires
and greatest challenges. This powerful group will help you resolve
negative emotions that restrict your ability to love yourself and others. This
group will inspire you to create the loving relationships that you desire.
“Positive Parenting” Parent
Education and Support Group
This is a 10-week group for parents to learn and obtain new skills to effectively
parent their children. It provides support, ideas, and new skills
to help children become happy, healthy, and well-adjusted.
Other Groups
"Eating Disorder" Support Group
This ongoing group is for adults struggling to maintain recovery from anorexia, bulimia, or compulsive overeating. You will receive support, and advice from others, like you, who face the daily challenges of choosing well-being amidst life's many challenges. The group is on Wednesdays at 5:30pm, please call to sign up for this group.
