What To Look For In A Therapist
Choosing a Therapist is not easy task. Your personal information is not always easy to divulge, especially to a
complete stranger! When you look for a therapist or a psychologist take the following into account:
1) Are they licensed by the state they are working in?
2) Do they have a specialty and does that specialty suit your situation?
3) Are you planning on using insurance and if so, will they take your insurance?
4) If you use insurance, who is going to check your benefits? Who will do the billing?
5) What are their office policies for privacy and confidentiality as it relates to your insurance company,
legal matters, or close relatives?
6) If you don't like your therapist, will they help you find someone to refer to?
These few questions can help you make an informed decision before scheduling for an appointment. We recognize that your
life IS your life. You are coming to us for help, understanding, and direction. In the midst of this, you are looking
for effective results to a very personal situation. This means that you have to feel comfortable with whom you are
seeking help. We have multiple therapists that cover a variety of specialties and are confident that someone at San Diego
Family Services can help get on the right track. Whether you select us or someone else, know you have a choice. Making the
right one from the beginning is most important for you.
